The Kuro
House

Kuro — 黒 — means black in Japanese, a nod to the hand-charred shou sugi ban cedar that wraps both buildings. The centuries-old technique seals the wood with fire, leaving a deep, tactile black that softens into the oaks.

Tucked onto 1.69 usable acres at the upper reach of San Roque Road, the residence is a study in restraint — three bedrooms and two baths across 1,667 square feet of quiet, light-filled architecture. The grounds are the second residence: two stone fountains, a pool drawn to the southern light, a cedar hot tub beneath the oaks, and a free-standing two-car garage completing the compound.
